What’s New in Victoria Park, Perth

Here’s what you can expect from Elie’s Tent, VICTORIA PARK this 2020!

As we turn a new decade, we celebrate the past and use the lessons that we’ve learned to create a better community. As friends and residents of Victoria Park, and as a commercial business in the town, we at Elie’s Tent celebrate the New Year by adopting the new practices of the community and doing our part to promote everything that Victoria Park has to offer.

Here’s an update of what’s going on at the Town of Victoria Park in Perth, Western Australia.

25 Years of the Town of Victoria Park

Victoria Park is celebrating its 25th year since its naming on November 2, 1994, from the Town of Shepperton to the Town of Victoria Park following the restructure of the Perth City Council. For 25 years, the Town of Victoria Park continued to evolve from an inner-city residential area to one of Perth’s bustling suburbs with vibrant communities that opened various restaurants, cafes, and retail shops that bring more life to the town. Albany Highway is now home to many commercial establishments that have their own characteristics and offer various contributions to the Victoria Park community.

One such place is Elie’s Tent – an authentic Lebanese restaurant owned by the Jabbour family. It is located at 610 Albany Highway, one of the most popular commercial strip in the Town of Victoria Park. For many years now, Elie’s Tent has been serving authentic Lebanese food to locals and tourists at Victoria Park. As one of the many restaurants in Albany Highway, we make sure to cater to all appetites – halal, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free yet at the same time stand out by providing live entertainment though music and belly dancing performances.

Grow It Local Initiative

Last October 2019, the local government announced their support for the Grow It Local initiative which encourages the community to be window-sill farmers and grow crops from their backyards or balcony and share not only their produce but also their knowledge and skills in farming to their friends and neighbours. This initiative will not only curb the demand for products but will also promote self-sustainability as well as sharing within the community.

As an authentic Lebanese restaurant, we stay true to our ingredients and make sure to use fresh produce every day. With more support to this initiative, you can expect more fresh produce to be served at Elie’s Tent, especially if you are craving for some delicious greens like our Loubieh BizzaitFattoush, Lebanese Garden Salad and Tabbouleh.

Community Benefits Strategy

The Town of Victoria Park recently launched the Community Benefits Strategy last December 2019, which aimed to outline different programs that can promote and strengthen the sense of community within the people of Victoria Park. From having a healthy relationship within the family, creating recreational activities through sports, and to making youth programs and supporting events of local organisations, this Community Benefits Strategy was designed for the people and by sponsors of the project in partnership with the 30 residents that made up the panel.

At Elie’s Tent, we know the importance of a community; that’s why we give value to events and gatherings that can promote camaraderie within the community. We have monthly Harem Nights filled with exceptional food and lovely entertainment to encourage the people to share in a wonderful dining and entertaining experience with the local community.
